Judy's Punch

Here is a great Holiday Punch recipe that I got from Judy Gregory this week.

1 1/2 quarts of cranberry juice
6 oz. of orange juice concentrate (with pulp or without)
2 cups Vodka ( use yoru pesonal favorite. Judy says good quality makes for better punch.)
mix everything together in a big plastic bowl, cover and freeze.
Overnight will give you a nice slush. If you freeze longer, thaw to slush stage and serve.

Christmas at CWS

I can tell it is finally here because I am ready to put up the tree and decorate! I just can't get into Christmas until I am done with my Thanksgiving turkey.

Karen left me some cute liquor store special decorations and I have mixed them with my traditional tree trimming ornaments.

I like lights and in short order we had the place all lit up!

I set up a small party idea table with both serving ideas and some gift packages.
John and Jeanne at Cimarron Wine & Spirits wish everyone a Blessed Christmas!

New owners on the way!

The paperwork is in the works! Gene and Karen are packing to move off to Ponca City, a good thing for Ponca, a sad day for Waynoka. We always hate to see good solid folks leave our town. the great news for me is that I will soon be the new owner of Cimarron Wine & Spirits.

So I am going to pretend that no one knows me and give you the scoop! Jeanne Cole and John Cole (who I can't even pretend that no one knows), moved to Oklahoma and chose Waynoka for their home in 1977. We were avid duners for about 25 years and so many of our tourist visitors will recognize John when they walk in the door this month. John is very well known from other business ventures in Waynoka, and will be carrying the workload at the store for awhile.

Retirement is the nearest thing on my mind these days, and of course leaving Waynoka is not high on my list of things to do either, so when Karen told me she was moving to Ponca and selling the business, it seemed like a natural thing. Along the way I have learned a lot about the legalities of selling liquor in Oklahoma. But we are getting close!

What will take a little longer is learning more about wines. Whiskey, Vodka, Rum, those things I know a little about (personal experiences aside), but wine is a mystery onto itself. Luckily for me I have a friend or two that know wine and are willing to offer some guidance.

So as I learn I will be posting about the business of running a liquor store business and learning about the products I will be selling. Really funny is I found out I am already learning; case in point, a commercial on TV last night, woman spills a bottle of wine and I recognize the label as Yellow Tail, a brand I am learning is quite popular in our area! And even better, John recognized the label too, and he pretends to have no interest in Wine!!

For those of you who miss Sammy, (that was Karen's Yorkie) I am sorry I don't have a dog, but John will entertain you! Come by and visit with us as we learn the business. We are glad to have you visit Waynoka!
